Already received a check? Look at the scope.
Five things to compare before assuming the carrier’s estimate covers the whole repair.

Start with the rooms and measurements
Compare affected rooms and surfaces with the estimate. Record which rooms are included and where measurements differ. Photos with a room label make questions easier to follow.
Compare materials and repair operations
Look for the materials listed and the work required to remove, replace and finish them. Ask about missing preparation, access, detachment and reinstallation where applicable. Do not add work unrelated to the loss.
Separate the estimate from the payment
Repair cost and the amount of a check are not always the same. Deductibles, depreciation, prior payments and policy limits may affect the calculation. Ask the carrier to explain the payment breakdown.
Put questions in writing
Create a short list of specific differences and attach supporting photos or contractor details. Keep a copy. A larger contractor estimate alone does not establish what the policy covers.
Bring both estimates to a review
We can compare rooms, quantities, materials and repair operations, then discuss supported questions for the carrier. Further payment depends on coverage, facts, evidence and applicable requirements. It is not guaranteed.
